LaMarcus Aldridge May Be Out Against Golden State…

The Golden State Warriors ran into a brick wall on Monday named the Denver Nuggets. Just days after a solid victory against them at home, the Nuggets absolutely obliterated the Warriors for a 39-point win. Already outscored in the first quarter by 24 points, a returning Danilo Gallinari and an excellent showing by Kenneth Faried were too much for a Warriors squad that shot at 36.9 percent from the field.

As they travel to Portland to visit the Trail Blazers, this game between West Coast foes features two teams that will likely miss the playoffs this year. While the Warriors are better off not winning many more games this season, the team may give the Trail Blazers their third straight defeat if LaMarcus Aldridge is unavailable for the game. The All-Star forward is their leading scorer and rebounder and is having his hip examined in Vail, Colorado. Starting forward Nicolas Batum may also be out for this game with left quad tendinitis.

The matchup:

The Golden State Warriors will take on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden located in Portland, OR on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. PT.

The standings:

Golden State enters the matchup having lost their last game and with a 22-34 record. They are 10-18 on the road and have won two of their last 10 games.

Portland comes into the game having lost their last two games and with a 27-31 record. They are 19-11 on their home court and have won five of their last 10 games.

Next three games on tap:

Following this game, the Warriors will host the Dallas Mavericks on April 12, visit the Los Angeles Clippers on April 14, and host the San Antonio Spurs on April 16.

Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers will host the Dallas Mavericks on April 13, visit the Sacramento Kings on April 15, and visit the Phoenix Suns on April 16.

Despite big night by rookie Charles Jenkins,…

PORTLAND, Ore. — Warriors rookie Charles Jenkins scored a career-high 27 points starting in place of injured Nate Robinson, but he missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer as the Portland Trail Blazers escaped with a 90-87 victory on Sunday.

It was the sixth loss in eight games for the Warriors.

Raymond Felton scored 24 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 18, including a fadeaway jumper and two free throws that proved the difference in the final minute for the Trail Blazers.

Portland evened its record to 3-3 since Kaleb Canales replaced the fired Nate McMillan.

Brandon Rush hit two straight 3-pointers that gave Golden State an 85-80 lead with 3:37 left. But two free throws later, Felton made a 3 to

tie it at 85 with 2:32 left.

Wesley Matthews missed one of two free throws for Portland before David Lee’s tip-in gave the Warriors back the lead. Aldridge’s jumper put Portland in front with 39.9 seconds left. On the other end, Lee fouled Aldridge, who made his free throws for the final margin. Jenkins was playing in place of Robinson, who strained his right hamstring in the Warriors’ 111-108 victory over the Kings the previous night. Robinson was in uniform Sunday but did not play.

Jenkins’ whose previous career high was 15 points on March 13 at Sacramento, made 13 of 22 shots Sunday.

Lee added 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Warriors, rookie Klay Thompson also scored 16, and Richard Jefferson added 14.

Both

teams have dealt with upheaval in recent weeks.

The Warriors traded away fan favorite Monta Ellis and have been starting Thompson, who has scored in double figures in his last 13 games (nine as a starter), including a career-high 31 points Saturday against the Kings.

The Blazers dismissed McMillan and traded away starters Marcus Camby and Gerald Wallace at the NBA trade deadline on March 15. Canales still was trying to assimilate newcomers Jonny Flynn and Hasheem Thabeet, as well

as forward J.J. Hickson, acquired off waivers from the Kings.

The Blazers jumped out to a 17-11 lead on Aldridge’s dunk off a pass from Felton. But the Warriors closed the gap before the first quarter was over, and went ahead 27-26 on Jenkins’ pull-up jumper.

Lee’s layup and free throw gave Golden State a 41-33 lead late in the second quarter, and the Warriors were up 47-40 at the break.

Golden State stretched the advantage to 53-45 on Thompson’s jumper, but the Blazers closed to 57-56 on Aldridge’s dunk before going ahead on consecutive long jumpers from Felton.

The game shifted in Portland’s direction when Felton grabbed a steal but fell trying to control it, and passed it from the floor to Nicolas Batum, who

went in for the fast-break layup and free throw to put Portland ahead 65-59.

Thompson’s 3-pointer got the Warriors as close as 70-69 early in the fourth quarter. Jenkins’ pull-up jumper and a layup put Golden State in front 75-72, but the Blazers went up 80-77 on Felton’s 3-pointer with 5 minutes to go.

Batum had 17 points and eight rebounds for Portland.

The Blazers were coming off a 103-96 loss to the Lakers on Friday night at Staples Center.
