Chris Mullin has had a tumultuous history lately with the Golden State Warriors. He was often stuck on the other side of power struggles with the ownership of Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell, and the coaching staff, particularly Don Nelson He left Golden State under pretty negative circumstances, and Warriors fans were stuck pondering doom.

But no one can dispute how great an NBA player was. Let’s remember Mullin’s greatness, shall we?

(via NBA)

Mullin put up 12 straight seasons of impressive performance at the forward position, and was perhaps one of the most offensively effective pure forwards in the NBA. From 1986 to 1993, Mullin scored 20 points per game, shot over 50% of the field every season, and was nearly always an 80+% free throw shooter. He was a five-time NBA All Star, and was of course on the famed 1992 Dream Team, and just recently was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.

Now the new Warriors ownership of Joe Lacob and Peter Guber are seeking to make everything right by honoring him in the proper way. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports that they plan on retiring him in a ceremony in 2012, supposedly on January 20th against the Indiana Pacers. It might be the first step to bringing Mully back into the fold in the Warriors organization.

Now it might get a little awkward if there’s an NBA lockout …
