Warriors (2-2) at Suns (1-3), 1:30 tip-off

C: Andris Biedrins … Marcin Gortat

PF: David Lee … Channing Frye

SF: Dorell Wright … Grant Hill

SG: Monta Ellis … Jared Dudley

PG: Stephen Curry … Steve Nash

Key Warrriors subs: Brandon Rush, Ekpe Udoh, Ishamel Smith, Dominic McGuire, Kwame Brown, Klay Thompson.

Snacking on some Orange Slices before an early tip-off:

* Monta Ellis, averaging 21.0 points and 7.7 assists in two wins and a loss, missed Golden State’s Wednesday night loss to Philadelphia for his grandmother’s funeral in Mississippi but the Contra Costa Times’ Marcus Thompson reported this morning that Ellis has rejoined the team and will play today. Grant Hill fared well against Ellis defensively last season, including Ellis’ eight-point outing in the teams’ final meeting.

* The Warriors have lost 12 consecutive games at US Airways Center, dating back to March 2005. Golden State was 10-31 on the road last season. This is the Warriors’ first road game of the season after opening with a four-game homestand that included wins against Chicago and New York. Golden State only has won 26 road games over the last three seasons combined.

* The Suns have won six consecutive games overall against Golden State.

* The Suns rank 24th in the NBA in scoring, 24th in field goal percentage and 27th in 3-point percentage. The very thing that was supposed to give the Suns a fighting chance at the playoffs despite little roster improvement was the continuity of the team.

“Yeah, it doesn’t look that way, does it?” said Steve Nash, whose shot has been ailing due to a rib bruise.

The Suns’ offense always has operated off rhythm and perhaps they never established that without spending the time they do playing together on their own each September before training camp started. The Suns clearly are getting good shots. In the last home game, they charted that they took 11 “Grade-A” shots in the first quarter and made two.

“It’s not about anything another team does,” Frye said. “It’s about us. We’ve got to jump up and make shots and whether we’re going to stick to our defensive principles?”

* How did the Suns defense go from giving up 29.8 percent shooting, the third lowest opponent mark in franchise history, against New Orleans on Friday night to yielding 53.2 percent shooting to Oklahoma City on Saturday night? For one, the Hornets don’t have much for scoring threats without Eric Gordon and the Thunder is playing like the best team in the West. But the Suns were a different defensive team internally Saturday night against the Thunder.

“We didn’t stay within what we’re supposed to do,” Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. “We tried to make up too much as we went along. When we do that, we can’t have any continuity because nobody knows what the next guy is doing.”

* The Suns’ best 3-point shooter this season is a rookie who looked throughout training camp like maybe he should hold off on adding it to his repertoire. But Gentry kept encouraging Markieff Morris to shoot and the Suns have another stretch power forward to show for it.

Morris is 5 for 9 on 3s after going 3 for 4 in the Saturday loss. That included a fourth-quarter bank shot.

“I actually tried to shoot it off the backboard,” Morris said. “I called bank. I don’t know if you heard me.”

Morris also has the team’s third best rebounding rate (18 rebounds in 68 minutes) behind Gortat and Frye.

* Frye is not the only notorious proficient 3-point shooter who has opened the season on a cold streak. Wright sank 194 3s last season in his first year with Golden State but is 3 for 17 (17.6 percent) in the first four games this season. Like Phoenix, Golden State has struggled from 3-point range as a team (27.5 percent).

* The Suns and Warriors both emphasized a defensive culture change with offseason coaching hires — lead assistant Elston Turner for Phoenix and new head coach Mark Jackson for Golden State. It would have made for a nice turnaround with the teams if their offenses had not become polar-opposites of their past. Golden State (89.0) and Phoenix (89.3) rank as the sixth and seventh lowest scoring offenses in the league.

* Michael Redd is joining the Suns today to begin working out with the team. He likely is at least a week away from playing.

OAKLAND — Monta Ellis shook off a terrible first half to finish with 22 points and eight assists, Brandon Rush added 19 points off the bench and the Golden State Warriors beat the New York Knicks 92-78 on Wednesday night.

Playing without injured guard Stephen Curry, the Warriors led by as much as 19 before cruising to their second straight impressive win over an Eastern Conference team. Two nights earlier Golden State (2-1) beat the Chicago Bulls 99-91.

Ish Smith had 11 points, four assists and six rebounds while starting in place of Curry, who sat out the game after injuring his surgically repaired ankle against Chicago.

Amare Stoudemire finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for New York while Carmelo Anthony had 13 points.

Ellis went just 4 of 15 in the first half but scored eight straight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, midway through the fourth quarter when Golden State pulled away.

The Warriors did it once again behind their defense, which stymied Stoudemire and Anthony most of the night. The two combined to go just 8 of 27 and were only 13 for 19 on free throws.

No one else could pick up the scoring slack for the Knicks, who were also outrebounded 47-31 by the smaller but quicker Warriors.

Landry Fields had 13 of his 14 points in the first half. Bill Walker also scored 14 for the Knicks, who failed in their bid to start the season with consecutive victories for the first time since 1999.

Former Knick David Lee scored 13 points for Golden State (2-1).

This was the first stop on a three-game trip to the West Coast for New York.

The Knicks, who beat the Celtics on Christmas Day to kick off the truncated NBA schedule after losing all eight games to Boston in 2010, play the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday. They return to Northern California to face the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

The Warriors played without Curry, who landed awkwardly on his surgically repaired right ankle in the fourth quarter of Monday’s win over Chicago.

It was the second time in seven days that Curry injured the ankle. He also missed eight games last season because of lingering ankle problems.

“It was the best thing to give it some time to heal,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said before the game. “Bottom line is he got hurt landing on somebody and we are going to give it some time to heal.”

Smith started in place of Curry and scored seven of Golden State’s first 10 points. He finished 5 of 13 from the floor.

Anthony and Stoudemire couldn’t get much of anything to fall. The duo repeatedly settled for long jumpers, a trend that continued deep into the fourth quarter.

Even with their two stars off to a slow start, the Knicks took a 43-37 lead into the half.

Golden State closed the gap with a 15-5 run early in the second half, tied the game at 64 when Rush made a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter, then took control with 20-6 burst in the fourth.

The Warriors opened a 19-point lead with 4:09 left when the Knicks frustrations began to show. Tyson Chandler tossed Lee to the ground and was whistled for a technical foul, bringing the sold-out crowd at Oracle Arena to its feet.

Notes: The Warriors have agreed to terms with 7-foot-1 free agent center Kyrylo Fesenko on a one-year contract pending Fesenko passing a physical. Fesenko, who spent the past four seasons mostly as a backup with the Utah Jazz, was in Golden State’s locker room before the game but neither nor the Warriors can talk about the deal until it is complete. … The Warriors have sold out the first three games on this four-game homestand. … Former Golden State guard Jeremy Lin, who signed with the Knicks on Tuesday, entered the game late in the fourth quarter and missed his only shot attempt.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Warriors 92, Knicks 78 Mark Jackson didn't see much significance in coaching Golden State to a win against his former team.

OAKLAND, Calif. —
Warriors 92, Knicks 78

Mark Jackson didn’t see much significance in coaching Golden State to a win against his former team.

It was the way the Warriors beat the New York Knicks that meant the most to Jackson — doing it with a defensive focus that hasn’t been seen from this franchise on a consistent basis in more than a decade.

Then again, that’s been Jackson’s message to his players ever since he was hired in June.

“This is going to be strange to hear: We’re a defensive team,” Jackson said following Golden State’s 92-78 victory Wednesday night. “It’s a shocker. Great players are going to come in and have great nights, but our job is make it tough. We had a bad first half offensively, but the defense gave us a chance to win a ballgame.”

Golden State definitely made it tough on New York’s All-Star duo of Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, who combined to go just 8 of 27 from the floor after teaming for 58 points in the Knicks’ Christmas Day win over the Boston Celtics.

Stoudemire finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Anthony had 13 points.

“The whole game our offense was awful,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said. “We weren’t in synch, we didn’t make shots, we turned the ball over and we gave them layups. Whatever kind of mistakes you can make, we made. It was awful.”

Monta Ellis shook off a terrible first half to finish with 22 points and eight assists, while Brandon Rush added 19 points off the bench for Golden State (2-1).

Playing without injured guard Stephen Curry, the Warriors led by as much as 19 before cruising to their second straight impressive win over an Eastern Conference team. Two nights earlier they beat the Chicago Bulls 99-91.

Ish Smith had 11 points, four assists and six rebounds while starting in place of Curry, who sat out the game after injuring his surgically repaired ankle against Chicago.

Ellis went just 4 of 15 in the first half but scored eight straight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, midway through the fourth quarter when Golden State pulled away.

But it was the Warriors’ defense that made the biggest difference — a refreshing change considering the team’s recent history of shunning that part of the game.

“That’s our focus, defense,” Ellis said. “Just going out there getting the job done. That’s what’s keeping us in the game against great teams like this. Our defense kept us in the game and the offense won the game for us.”

“I’m not making any excuses, but we’re a young team that’s coming together and we have to build,” said Chandler, who was held to two points and three rebounds. “Unfortunately, we’re learning things on the fly.”

Notes: The Warriors have agreed to terms with 7-foot-1 free agent center Kyrylo Fesenko on a one-year contract pending Fesenko passing a physical.

The Chicago Bulls were seeking their second road win as many nights when they faced the Golden State Warriors on December 26 th. Last year, when these teams met on the Warriors’ home floor, the Bulls did not have a good showing, falling 100-91. Well history would repeat itself, as Golden State jumped on Chicago early, leading by as many as 19 points, before holding on for a 99-91 victory. Here are my reasons as to why the Bulls came up short against the Warriors for the second straight year.

Poor offensive execution:

The Bulls were not very sharp with their offensive sets. They only had 16 assists against the Warriors after totaling 18 against the Lakers in the first half alone. Regardless of the opponent, when you settle for outside shots, it is easier for the opposing team to defend you. Also, the Bulls were very sloppy with the basketball, committing 20 turnovers. Needless to say, even an average team can win when given so many extra possessions to work with.

Solid defense on Derrick Rose:

When these teams met last year, the Warriors did a good job of hounding rose into a sub-par game as he scored just 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field. This time around, the Warriors’ defense was just as effective, limiting Rose to just 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting. While Rose is the best player on the team, the Bulls tend to rely too much on his ability to score. I know this is only game, but Chicago needs to be more balanced on offense if they expect to take the next step this season.

Lack of defensive intensity:

The Bulls’ defense was lazy in stretches as they gave up a lot of uncontested baskets, which allowed the Warriors to connect on 47% of their field goal attempts. As one of the top defensive teams in the league last season, it was disappointing to see the lack of effort by the Bulls on the defensive end of the court.

Hopefully the Bulls will improve on those lapses because a lot of their success will have to come from being sound both defensively and offensively. As Stacey King mentioned during the telecast, Chicago will not be able to sneak up on teams like they were last year. If they don’t bring the necessary intensity each night, they could be on the losing end of a lot of games against teams they should be able to beat.

What a difference one night can make. Just 24 hours after getting blown out by the Los Angeles Clippers 105-86 to kick off their season in underwhelming fashion, the Golden State Warriors put on an absolute clinic at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on Monday night, beating the Chicago Bulls 99-91. What a way for my hometown team to get their first win of the shortened 66-game campaign, and Mark Jackson his first ever coaching victory.

As I wrote yesterday, it appears that the Warriors are going to go as Stephen Curry goes, and he most certainly went last night. After a dismal opening day performance, Curry showed flashes of the brilliant point guard we are all hoping he’ll be, putting up an amazing stat line of 21 points, ten assists, seven rebounds, and six steals, not to mention a couple of breathtaking alley-oops, including a three-quarters court toss to Dorell Wright. And that’s all with missing a large chunk of the fourth quarter after re-injuring his ankle yet again, this time after landing on Kyle Korver’s foot. (Apparently Curry is going to have to miss the Warriors’ next game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, making an already tough contest even tougher).

Jackson has been stressing that this Golden State Warriors team is going to be focused around defense, so perhaps it’s only fitting that in his first ever win, the team played great D on reigning league MVP Derrick Rose, holding him to 13 points on 4 of 17 shooting, and that they also managed to rack up 16 steals in the process. I know it’s been a while since there’s been basketball, but this was the best defensive effort that I’ve seen from a W’s team in a very, very long time.

And I’m not going to say that I’m right (it’s only been two games after all), but Kwame Brown’s performance Monday night was inspired. In 23 solid minutes off of the bench, the big man made in impact defending against the always tough Joakim Noah. And a +/- of +21? Nicely done, Kwame.

So what does it all mean? That the Warriors are going to play tough D, beat up on good Eastern Conference teams, effectively use 11 players (there is no telling the depths of Coach Jackson’s bench), and win games without scoring 100 points? Probably not. But even if this is just a one-time thing, it was great to see the W’s put together a performance that shows the potential of what this team could one day be.

Can they do it again on Wednesday without Curry against the Knicks? I’m not going to be the one who says that they can’t.

The Warriors’ star guards led Golden State to a 99-91 win Monday over the Chicago Bulls, the team’s first win of the season and Mark Jackson’s first victory as an NBA head coach.

Stephen Curry, before aggravating his surgically repaired sprained right ankle, totaled 21 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and six steals. Monta Ellis, still grieving the death of his grandmother on Christmas, had 26 points and seven assists.

“Those guys are scary, man,” Dorell Wright said after adding 13 points. “Monta scores with the best in the league. And Steph’s game is so smooth, he’s a tough cover. When they’re playing like that, it makes everyone else’s job a little easier.”

Both Curry and Ellis struggled in the season opener. Curry missed three practices after spraining his right ankle last Tuesday in an exhibition game at Sacramento. He decided pregame he would play Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers and wound up missing 10 of 12 shots and finished with four points and five turnovers.

Ellis, who is also dealing with a sexual harassment lawsuit, needed 19 shots to get 15 points against the Clippers. He totaled four turnovers.

But Monday’s performance was much more like the backcourt that Warriors fans have grown to love.

Both Ellis and Curry penetrated instead of settling for jump shots, which resulted in good looks and free throws (they made 11 of 13 combined). They both also set up their teammates.

Curry scored 15 points

in the second quarter, seven from the foul line, as the Warriors built a lead as large as 19 points. But he tweaked his ankle midway through the fourth quarter, landing on the foot of Chicago’s Kyle Korver.

Curry tried to walk it off but was taken out with 5:52 to play and never returned. After the game, he had X-rays to make sure the ankle surgery that he had in May held up.

“It was comforting for me that it wasn’t one of those just planting and moving kind of injuries like I had in Sac,” Curry said. “It’s still frustrating that this keeps coming up.”

With Curry out, Ellis took control. He scored seven points in the fourth quarter, stunting the Bulls’ comeback bid.

Inside of five minutes left, he got free for a breakaway dunk. Then, after the Bulls cut the deficit to single digits on a Luol Deng 3-pointer, Ellis dropped in a finger roll from the baseline. Golden State led 93-83 with 4:01 left. Chicago never got closer than seven the rest of the way, securing Jackson’s first win.

“It means something because I dreamt of this moment,” Jackson said. “I told the guys I didn’t see the guys in uniform, but I thank God it was them because of their commitment, their focus and their dedication. … This win was truly theirs. They earned this one.”

Eager for more minutes, swingman Brandon Rush was happy to get out of Indiana. If the first two games are any indication, being traded to the Warriors was a wish fulfilled.

For the second straight game, Rush was the most-used reserve. Monday, he totaled five points, three rebounds and two blocks in over 26 minutes. Sunday, he logged over 28 minutes.

“He’s earned those minutes from the first day he came to this team,” Jackson said. “He’s not going to hurt you. He’s going to make solid plays. He’s going to rebound the basketball and he’s going to battle defensively. … There’s a reason why we wanted him.”

Rush — who is 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds — was acquired from the Pacers on Dec. 19 for forward Lou Amundson, improving the Warriors’ depth on the wing.

In his fourth year out of Kansas, Rush has the defensive mindset that Jackson wants. Sunday, he had two blocks and a steal. Monday, with 2:35 left, he prevented a C.J. Watson layup, giving the Warriors a critical stop.

“My main thing is defense,” said Rush, who is in the final year of his rookie contract ($2.9 million). “Scoring will come. I just focus on defense and getting key stops.”

He’s also a 3-point shooter (a career 40 percent shooter from behind the arc) and Jackson called him an underrated rebounder.

Golden State’s defense held up in the second half Monday, holding Chicago to 37 percent shooting. Sunday, the Warriors allowed the Clippers to score 64 points on 59 percent shooting in the second half.

The Warriors, for the second consecutive year, kept league MVP Derrick Rose from doing too much damage. He finished with 13 points on 4-for-17 shooting with eight assists. He had just two free throws in the fourth quarter.

To combat the Bulls’ second unit (known for its physical, defensive play), Jackson’s key guys off the bench were Rush and Kwame Brown. Sunday, Jackson preferred rookie Klay Thompson and Ekpe Udoh. On Monday Thompson logged just 12 minutes. Udoh totaled 14.

“You have to pick and choose when you can do it,” Jackson said of his small lineup.

Hopefully they can have similar output from bench guys like Brandon Rush and rookie Klay Thompson, each scoring 12 and seven respectfully.

Golden State began Christmas night rigid on defense but folded in the second half, allowing 105 points including 65 in the second half alone. Like the Clippers, the Bulls are a high powered offense, and will prove to be another early test for Jackson and his defense-first mentality.

These two teams split their meetings last season, with each winning a game on their home court. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm PT from Oracle Arena with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

For the first time in franchise history, the Golden State Warriors Opening Night game will be nationally televised as part of a five-game schedule to tip off the 2011-2012 NBA season.

For the first time in franchise history, the Golden State Warriors Opening Night game will be nationally televised as part of a five-game schedule to tip off the 2011-2012 NBA season. Set for a 7:30 p.m. PT tipoff on ESPN, Mark Jackson will debut as the new Warriors head coach against Blake Griffin(notes) and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Back when the regular season was set to start at the beginning of November, the NBA was planning to have its typical Christmas Day tripleheader featuring the Boston Celtics at the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat at the Dallas Mavericks, and the Chicago Bulls at the Los Angeles Lakers. However, after coming to a tentative agreement for a new labor deal on Saturday, Nov. 26, the league decided to include this Warriors nightcap matchup following a game featuring the Orlando Magic at the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After taking the Golden State job over the summer, Jackson, a former television personality for NBA games on ESPN, will be front and center on national TV for his coaching debut. With little time to prepare with players like Monta Ellis(notes), Stephen Curry(notes), and David Lee(notes), Jackson may struggle initially in regards to building rapport and implementing his offensive and defensive philosophies with his team. As with any new coaching regime, Jackson may experience some growing pains with his team, as he will be pressed for the time during the league’s abbreviated preseason.

Even though the team currently has 12 players on the roster (assuming the team signs Klay Thompson(notes), Jeremy Tyler(notes), and Charles Jenkins(notes) to rookie contracts) and will not need to sign too many free agents to fill up their roster, there is still much uncertainty regarding the state of the Warriors roster on Opening Night. With a little more than three weeks left before the start of the season, Warriors general manager Larry Riley and company have been contemplating plenty of free agent options, the amnesty clause, and possible trades. If the Warriors end up signing former Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler(notes), their No. 1 offseason free agent target, or other big men like New Orleans Hornets power forward David West(notes) or Denver Nuggets center Nene, the team will certainty need to make several more moves before the start of the season.

While there is sure to be some nerves in Jackson and the rest of the players, the team does have history on its side. Last year on Christmas Night, the Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 109-102 to end a six-game Christmas Night losing streak that started back in 1971. While that can be seen as good news for the Warriors, all eyes around the country will be on Jackson, seeing if he has what it takes to be a successful NBA head coach.

OAKLAND — The Golden State Warriors will make team history when they open the 2011-12 season by hosting the Los Angeles Clippers on Christmas night in the finale of a five-game slate of nationally televised NBA games.

The game, which is set for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff on ESPN, will mark the first time that a Warriors opening night game will be on national TV.

The NBA announced the Warriors’ opening game on Friday morning. The league will release the rest of the 2011-12 schedule around 4 p.m. PST today, the New York Times reported.

Also appearing on national TV on Christmas will be Boston at New York (TNT), Miami at Dallas (ABC), Orlando at Oklahoma City and Chicago at the Los Angeles Lakers (ABC). Like the Warriors, the Oklahoma City-Orlando game was added Friday and will be shown on ESPN.

This will mark the second year in a row the Warriors have played on Christmas Night, and the 12th time overall since the team moved West in 1962. Last year, the Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 109-102 to snap a six-game Christmas Night losing streak that dated back to 1971. The team is 4-7 in its previous 11 games on December 25 since 1962.

New Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson will have plenty of input on the bench. The Warriors on Thursday hired five more assistants for Jackson, a former NBA point guard who has no coaching experience. Joining Michael Malone on the team’s staff will be Pete Myers, Wes Unseld Jr. and Jerry DeGregorio as assistant coaches and Darren Erman and Kris Weems as assistant of player development, the team announced Thursday. Myers, a former player, had worked for the Chicago Bulls the last 12 years, primarily as a scout. Unseld, the son of Hall of Famer Wes Unseld, had been with the Washington Wizards for 13 years.

Monta Ellis could be traded this summer.

The Orlando Magic are one of a handful of teams who’ve spoken to the Golden State Warriors about acquiring Monta Ellis, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Based on comments from new team consultant Jerry West last week, it appears the Warriors are looking to split up the guard duo of Ellis and Stephen Curry, who aren’t a very good complement because they’re both undersized and both like the ball in their hands.

That puts Ellis, a 25-year-old who averaged 24.1 points last season, on the trading block, and he’s receiving plenty of interest. Rusty Simmons of the Chronicle, citing league sources, said the Warriors have discussed trades with Atlanta, Chicago, Memphis, Orlando and the Lakers. The league’s hottest rumor involves Ellis being traded to Philadelphia for Andre Iguodala straight up.

Ellis’ inefficiency and lack of defensive performance doesn’t make him a perfect fit in Orlando, but his ability to create shots is something the Magic sorely lack. As a pure scorer, he’s one of the ten best perimeter players in the NBA.

The Magic’s most valuable trading asset, Jameer Nelson, offers little value to the Warriors because of Curry, but the Warriors could potentially have interest in one of the Magic’s young role players. While the other teams linked to the Warriors could all offer more than the Magic, it’s unclear if they want to.

If the Ellis-for-Iguodala swap falls through, this will certainly be a situation to monitor.

Read More: Monta Ellis (G – GSW), Andre Iguodala (F – PHI), Stephen Curry (G – GSW), Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers

Monta Ellis trade rumors seem to be a constant circumstance of existence in today’s NBA. The Golden State Warriors took Stephen Curry in the 2009 NBA Draft, and Curry excelled through two seasons. But, like Ellis, he’s on the small side and has trouble defending true shooting guards. Given that Curry is also a solid playmaker — a legit point guard in today’s league — and that he’s cheap while Ellis is pricey, and that Curry is considered a “no drama” player while Ellis is a bit more high-maintenance, Monta is the guy on the block, and has been for some time.

Rumors picked up when Jerry West joined Golden State as a consultant; this week, they blew wide open with a report the Warriors were in talks to send Ellis to the Philadelphia 76ers for Andre Iguodala. But Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Sixers aren’t the only team the Warriors have talked to about Ellis.

League sources said the Warriors also have discussed Ellis, among a variety of other players, in trade talks with Atlanta, Chicago, Memphis, Orlando and the Lakers.

It’s unclear what pieces the Warriors are seeking for Ellis from those other teams, and it would make sense that other Golden State players — David Lee, primarily, but also Dorell Wright and cap albatross Andris Biedrins — would be in play. Defense seems to be and ought to be a priority for Golden State; new coach Mark Jackson emphasized defensive accountability in his first public comments on Tuesday. Iguodala is one of the best wing defenders in the NBA. Ellis is a minus on defense.
